I just discovered this blog, and it’s amazing. As a city dweller (or at least a big town dweller), I’ve always wondered what life was like at the other end of the supermarket purchase. Please keep up the great work – it is very much appreciated!

I used to farm in Norman County until five years ago. I do remember the wet years (4 century floods in 10 years) and the fustration that goes along with it. There is so little that a person can do to change the outcome. Good luck from a previous farmer that knows exactly what you are going through.

It just reinforces the thought that people do not understand what farmers do. Sort of like the TV commercial producer that wanted to try to schedule filming a wheat harvest in with her schedule.. which was 2 months past the normal wheat harvest for the area…. hello???!!

Just came across your blog. Very interesting. My father farmed 260 acres in England from 1950s to 1980s. He used to grow about 3o acres of sugar beet each year. Harvested in Oct-Nov. I believe the govt used to allot the amount each farmer could grow.
